The model was made in six production runs, during 46 years, over which the car's design varied dramatically due to changing technology, tastes, and new standards implemented over the years. 1972 was the last model year for the mid-sized Buick Skylark. During this model year many pollution controls were added to the Engines, Compression was lowered, engines had to accept leaded and unleaded gas, and spark timing was retarded (no vacuum advance in lower gears) while driving in lower gears to reduce emissions. For 1972, the base Buick Skylark used the 350-cubic-inch V8 with the 2-barrel Rochester carburetor (now putting out 145 horsepower) as standard equipment, well the owner said to hell with that and went a completely different route in the form of a mountain motor. A 632 cubic inch shortblock was then commissioned. The best forged internals were stuffed in it and a maximum lift camshaft to the lope of .742 lift.A 1250CFM Holley Dominator stuffs the fuel down its though and custom built headers pump the muscle music to the pavement via 3� dumps. The car makes well over 1000 horsepower and 1000+ ft/lbs of torque and is capable of running into the 9s at 130+mph. With the AC on! A 4L80E 5 speed automatic transmission was commissioned for the build and was bullet proofed internally and stuffed with a 4000rpm stall converter. A fully built GM 12 bolt rear end puts the power to the pavement via a Detroit chunk and 31 spline Moser axles with a gear ratio of 4.10. Custom black interior was used along with all Dakota digital gauges and a Pioneer Nav/DVD unit in a custom center control. A 15� Kicker subwoofer pounds out the tunes and big vented 4 wheel disk brakes keeps the big Buick for sale under wraps at high speeds.
