West Coast Classics are proud to present an exceptionally straight and rust free and great daily driving survivor of this very rare and original looking original southern California 1951 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton rare Deluxe cab 5 window Pick Up Truck with a highly desirable period correct (1955-57 Chevrolet Pick Up Casting # 3836233) and rebuilt 235 'Thrift Master' straight 6 cylinder engine which is very powerful for this truck and its original 3 speed column shifting (Three on the Tree) manual transmission. The truck is a beautiful example and an older restoration with no rust either now or ever!
The truck is a true survivor and a perfect candidate to drive and enjoy whilst restoring further or simply to be used as a super striking daily driver or promotional truck! The truck had recently come out of storage and had undergone an extensive mechanical restoration leaving the truck driving as good as when new! It has new radial tires and has been upgraded to disc brakes and a 12 volt system with an automatic clutch fan and an aluminum radiator so it does not overheat at all.
The original factory black color paint is in very good condition with only minor imperfections and light scratches noticeable only upon close inspection and the interior is very presentable but please note with an artificial wood radio! This great daily driving 1951 3100 5 window Pick Up is a perfect candidate for the classic truck enthusiast to drive and enjoy whilst fully restoring again or simply a great turn key ready daily driver for any classic truck enthusiast. There is no rust and the wooden bed is in quite exceptional condition with no rotting whatsoever.
The 1/2 ton Chevrolet pick up was renamed the 3100 in the 1940's and they were outselling the Ford's with a 33.8% market share in 1949 compared to Ford's 21.6%. But Chevy couldn't afford to be complacent and by 1950 there were several welcome improvements such as double acting all around shock absorbers and a circuit-braking lighting system. The Thriftmaster six offered slightly more power due to a Rochester power jet down draft carburetor, larger valves and a straight through muffler and the Deluxe Cab version which included 'Nu Vue' rear quarter windows improved visibility no end. Built between 1947-54 stylists conceived the five window cab, known as the Deluxe Cab, to eliminate the blind spots in the rear quarter panels of the cab. This allowed the driver to look over his shoulder to view the rear instead of having to poke his head out of the window! These windows curved with the contours of the cab to eliminate the blind spot. Stylists finished all the windows with stainless steel trim.
In the year 1955 the Thriftmaster engine was increased to 235 c.i. (3851cc) with an increase in both bore and stroke and this particular truck boasts such an engine with its desirable increased power. This particular truck's engine runs strong and sounds absolutely magnificent and the truck drives really well - must be driven to be appreciated - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver!
This is a very rare opportunity to own a great daily driving example of this very desirable original southern California 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Deluxe Cab 5 Window Pick Up in very fine daily driving condition ready for any classic American truck, collector or enthusiast to fully restore again or simply enjoy or collect today!SOLD |
