1986 Chevy Short Bed Truck 454ci, T400 trans, New factory A/C, PW, PDB, Tilt, New GM Serpentine system. Photo Documented Frame off, Nut & Bolt Restoration of Rust Free Southern Truck by Professional Restoration shop celebrating 30 years in business. Every Thing Inside & Out New! Dropped with lowered spindles and coils in the front and flipped in the back. Turn signals moved out of grill to front bumper. Welded steel rear roll pan. Everything smoothed and blacked out. All new Interior and rubber. '67 Camaro SS Hood. Huge new parts list, too big to list here. This Truck has received a full frame off resto by a "Restoration only shop" that was established in 1984. We refer to this truck as our shop truck. It has been a project that has been done on the side while restoring our customer's cars full time. The intention is to allow our staff a project that they can design and built just for the fun of it. A project where they can show off their skill sets unencumbered by customer guidelines and budgets. Our starting point was a virgin southern rust free low miles farm truck. The first step was disassembling the truck down to every last nut and bolt. The frame and every last suspension component was all media blasted down to bare metal. The bare metal was sprayed with a high quality metal etching two part epoxy and then top coated with PP&G single stage black for a durability that far surpasses factory original. The suspension was reassembled with all new wear items and polyurethane including all body mounts. The six inch lower stance on the back axle was accomplished by a flip kit. The front suspension was lower by four inches by lowering coils. The entire brake system was completely replaced with all new parts down to all the hard lines. After stripping every inch of the cab and bed down to bare metal it to was sprayed with the high quality metal etching two part epoxy. All trim studs and fastener holes were welded up and ground smooth. The cab drip rails were removed and discarded. A metal role pan was welded in place on the back of the bed. The factory truck hood has had the center panel sectioned and replaced with a '67 Camaro Super Sport Simulation Stack hood. The Camaro hood was a factory original part and all seams were joined with a continuous weld. The next step was to primer blocking all body surfaces. We did not just stop with the outside surfaces of the exterior panels. The inner wheel wells, core support, fire wall and the entire interior of the cab was primer blocked multiple times as well. Our blocking process consists of two coats Upol reface: long board blocked: reapply two coats Upol reface & long board blocked a second time. Then apply a coat of PP&G 2K primer and final sanded just prior to applying the base / clear. We have found that our blocking system produces a dead flat surface void of any imperfections. The floors from the factory pinch weld at the bottom of the firewall to the rear of the bed was sprayed with PP&G single stage black and then top coated with Upol Rock Guard. Although this is an expensive process we feel that this gives us the very toughest surface protection and exterior sound deadening available without resorting to undercoating. The next step was to apply the PP&G base / clear. We prefer PP&G euro clear (JC6700). We apply three coats and allow to dry. Then we sand with 400 grit and reapply three more coats of clear. This process gives that deep wet show quality look. After the clear dried we spent an entire week wet sanding and buffing. This paint process wasn't just applied to the exterior surfaces. The core support, firewall, inner wheel wells and the entire interior received the base / clear system and wet sand & buff. The 454 came to us untouched so after hot tubing it was only bored 0.30 over and plugged with Sealed Power flat tops. The rotating assembly was fully balanced. The oval port heads have been gone thru and the grind is fresh. The cam is a Comp Extreme part # 11-242-3, grind # XE-268-H. All wear items such as cam bearings, oil pump, timing set, etc. have been replaced . Edelbrock Performer Intake, Demon 850 carb installed. The Turbo 400 transmission has been completely rebuilt with new clutches & band. The custom bent 3 inch exhaust has Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. The factory A/C has completely rebuilt and updated to R134. The interior is also all new, fresh out of the box; seats, carpet, door panels, dash pad, headliner, etc. All weather stripping and glass channel runs are new along with the power window motors. All four stereo speakers are new. The 20 inch Boss 335 rims are mounted with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 245/40ZR/20's. All the glass was tinted prior to install to insure the best quality job. The bed has been spray lined up to and under the bed sides. The remaining exterior trim, mirrors and door handles have been color keyed black to match the paint. The front turn signals have been deleted from the new grill and moved down to the bumper. If this were a customer vehicle just the paint shop invoice would have broken the $18,000.00 mark. If you are looking for a Chevy truck that has been restored to a very high quality by professionals that did the job for the pure enjoyment of the build then this better than factory built truck is worth your time to come check out. Sales price represents wholesale cost of Restoration. Call for pics & info 843-546-6418 Pics: StrandClassics.com
