For sale we have this tuxedo black 1969 Chevrolet Z-28 Camaro. This car falls somewhere between a restored car and a project car. When people think of a project car, immediately they picture a motor-less, tranny-less rusted out shell with pieces of its once together panels scattered in boxes. We have learned to expect the worst and most of the time we get just that….

This is an older restoration that has been driven over the years and still has plenty of potential. As it sits, it would make a fun toy to stir up the local police with or daily commute car. This car is a blast to drive.

The powerplant is a 454ci with a larger cam and other internal modifications. The car is real strong and dangerous on street tires if not handled by an experienced wheelman. However, it is also very streetable and tame whenever it needs to be. The transmission is a 4 speed M-21 that was recently rebuilt. The rear end is a 12 bolt with good highway gears.

The car is originally an X-33 Z-28. The 8 grand tach is still in the car. Also the cowl tag shows X-33 as pictured. I realize that proving that the car is an actual Z-28 is impossible but so is disproving the car is an actual Z-28.

The paint is decent but the car will need to be repainted if a showroom shine is desired. The body panels are very straight with minimal gaps and very little rust.

The interior is in good condition. The houndstooth seats are free of tears and the dash pad is in good condition.

There are not many “project-ish/ restored-ish” Z-28’s for sale. Cars that are fully functional, driving vehicles are hard to put a price on, but that’s the buyer’s job. I truly believe that the car is an original Z-28 that has been passed down through the years and changed from owner to owner. Will the next owner drive it daily? Take it to the track? Buy a DZ 302 block and restore it back original?
