The LSA V8 in the Camaro ZL1 is a more powerful version of the one that was introduced in the Cadillac CTS-V. Chevrolet modified the LSA V8 specifically for the ZL1. With many upgrades including a more efficient intercooler and electric power steering system, a less restrictive air filter, dual inlet paths, and improved airflow throughout the supercharging housing. To handle all the additional upgrades, horsepower, and torque Chevrolet had to beef up the transmission in order to handle them. By strengthening the output shaft, using an additional roller bearing and a high strength rear housing on the Tremac TR-6060 six speed manual upgrading it to MG9-spec and prepared it for ZL1 duty. Of course with all that power, you need to stop and sometimes stop fast. For that Chevrolet enlisted the help of some giant Brembo calipers and rotors to get the job done right. At first glance the Camaro ZL1 looks like the Transformer's Bumblebee on steroids. The Cyber Gray Metallic paint matched with the powder coated wheels, wide tires, black hood scoop, and other black accents throughout the body provide for a sinister cool look.
