The 1st generation Camaro first arrived in dealerships in September of 66 as a 67 model on a brand new F body platform. For its second year the 68 model was updated with the introduction of Astro Ventilation, the side vent windows were deleted, side marker lights were added on the front and rear fenders and it received a more pointed front grille in addition to divided rear taillights. This particular example was born in the 3rd week of February in 1968 with a 396ci V8 and a T400 transmission. It was frame off restored 2002 at which time the engine was replaced with a 454 that was bored .060 over and is now a 468 estimated to produce 500 hp. The engine build consisted of the best parts available and sounds just plain nasty ripping through its 3” performance exhaust system. During the restoration the automatic transmission was replaced with a Borg Warner T-10 4 speed with a line lock and the 12 bolt posi rear end was completely rebuilt w/ 4:56 gears. The front disc and rear drum brakes were completely rebuilt as was the suspension which has been upgraded with traction bars and frame connectors. It has a custom interior that was designed to compliment the paint and looks like new. The best part of the car is the fit and finish of the body which is 100% rust free and enables the red metallic paint to shine like a mirror. Every detail has been addressed on this show stopper and it is need of nothing but a new home. Close to $70,000 was invested to make this beauty what she is.
