For sale in our Chicago showroom is this race inspired 1970 Chevrolet Corvette. While this started out as an average 350 HP 350 CID 4-speed car, it has since been transformed into a much sportier transportation. In 1975 the owner replaced the original engine with a direct replacement engine that was slightly modified. The new engine retains the 350 CID, but was bumped up to 370 HP courtesy of a Holley 750 carburetor pumping fuel into an aluminum high-rise intake manifold and out a set of Hooker Headers. Roller rockers were installed to help the camshaft get air into the cylinders at the right time, and with less friction, for an extra bump in power. The internal components of the engine were replaced with a forged crankshaft and forged rods. All of that “oomph” would be translated into wasted energy if it weren’t for the new 11” Centerforce clutch. The gears are selected via 4-speed manual transmission and put to the rear tires. The car has had many custom touches done, including a repaint with a set of very faint ghost flames. This car has a full exhaust system, but does have cut-outs just after the headers to keep the drag-racing theme going. The interior is overall in very good shape, with only minor wear showing. All of the gauges are working, and the odometer reads actual miles of the chassis, rather than the engine. The current engine is believed to have less than 5000 miles since 1975.
