For sale in our Chicago showroom is this rare 1996 Chevrolet Corvette. The standard Corvette would have come with Chevrolets LT1 engine, making around 285 horsepower. This particular vehicle was optioned with the more powerful LT4 engine making closer to 330 horsepower. The LT4 has a slightly more aggressive camshaft, as well as sodium-filled cylinder valves which allowed for a higher redline, resulting in a larger power band. While most Corvettes of this era were fitted with an automatic, the LT4 mandated a six-speed manual transmission. This Corvette is a low-mileage example with only 26,863 actual miles on the clock. The vehicle is covered in a timeless black paint, with a matching black interior and convertible top. While these cars had a good exhaust note when new, the owner of this example fitted a set of Magnaflow mufflers to get that true muscle car sound. The factory “Sawblade” rims still sparkle like new.
