1978 Chevrolet El Camino SS

64,000 original miles, limited owners and in amazing condition! This model was the first of the 'G' body cars and the first El Camino to have its own unique chassis. Prior they had always been on the Chevelle chassis and front end. This was the birth of a slimmer trimmer El Camino with a longer wheel base and has been a very popular style over the years and it is very common to see them converted to a Hot Rod or strip car.
The El Camino SS engine and transmission package is the same as the Vet that year with an L48 package including a healthy 350 small block and a tough 350 3 speed transmission (78 was the last year for the 350 engine, after the largest available was a 305). This El Camino has survived very well has a strong engine and transmission. It was upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer Intake and a Performer 600 4bbl carburetor. Interior is totally original right down to the factory AM radio. There is minimal body rust nothing over the size of a quarter and mostly around rear window trim. Overall this is a solid restoration worthy car and not very far to get there! The 'Z' designation in the VIN and on the Cowl Tag assure this was a factory born SS. (See Photos)

I have began the replacement of the drivers side door handle, it was broken by the previous owner. Also I have prepped that plastic trim panel to be dyed with factory original "Camel Tan" which I have already purchased. Promoter for the dye can be purchased at any Autozone for about $6 a can and I highly recommend it.
