1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster For Sale in Chicago. The Chevrolet Fleetmaster is an automobile which was produced by the Chevrolet in the United States for the 1946, 1947 and 1948 model years. The Fleetmaster series included the Fleetline sub-series which was offered only in 2-door and 4-door "fastback" body styles. The 1946, '47 and '48 Chevy models were basically ‘warmed over' versions of the 1942 models. The Fleetmaster came standard with a 216.5-cubic-inch, 3.5-liter, in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine. The engine was capable of producing 90 horsepower at 3,300 rpm, and 174 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm, with a 6.5-to-1 compression ratio. It had a cast iron block, and a one barrel carburetor. It was equipped with a three-speed manual transmission, with vacuum assisted shifting. The clutch was a 9.125 driven disk. The 1948 Chevrolet was a rear wheel drive with semi-floating axles. It had 11-inch hydraulic drum brakes on both the front and rear with an internal expanding emergency break, and its front suspension was an independent coil, the rear suspension was semi-elliptical leaf springs. Options on this 48 Fleetmaster are 16" wheels with wide whitewall bias ply tires, factory AM radio, 100mph speedometer, full factory gauges, factory clock that still seems to work, cloth bench seat interior, working horn, Casco spot light that works, Casco cigar lighter, signal guide, Sun Shield sun visor, heater/defroster, original owner's manual, side markers, manual wipers, and Van Auken front bumper guard. The original black paint is in driver quality condition, but shines nicely. Glass is good with minor delamination. This car has a floor mounted starter switch.
