1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
|
1972 Monte Carlo Custom - It has a 350 Engine and a 350 Transmission that shifts well. I am not sure how many miles are on the engine. I do have the original engine that came with the car when I bought it that I can give to the buyer if they want to use it to rebuild it. I put a used motor into the car a few months after I bought it because the original had lost all its compression. The current motor smokes lightly but feels strong when driving the car.
The Monte has old school diamond tuck crush velvet interior that was installed back in the 80’s. It has an 8” chrome steering wheel that I put in the car or you can install the original steering wheel which I have saved. The car has custom front bucket seats, custom center council, custom rear seats, custom head liner, custom everything inside the car. In the trunk it has a metal frame unit that is mounted to the body which houses two Wicked Brand Hydraulic Pumps, two switches, wiring, and is framed to house about 8 or more full size batteries (It currently had no batteries). When the car is lowered, it sits about an inch off the ground. It has custom skid plates. It seems that a lot of gold plating was done on the car. Most of it has a slight fade that can probably be brought back to life with the right restoring liquids. The car has a couple of dings but nothing major at all. I haven’t found any rust on the body of the car. It seems to be a very solid car which is hard to find these days for a car of its age. The interior is in good condition considering it was installed back in the 80’s. A few buttons on the velvet need to be purchased and put back on in a few places. I am sure that it wouldn’t cost a whole lot to replace them. The velvet on the back window area will need to be replaced because it was the only place in the car that the sun faded the material really bad. It has no sound system in it at all but it has the RCA wiring that runs from the dash to the truck. The car drives really nice on the highway. It’s a little bouncy considering it has hydraulics in it but overall it has a smooth ride. The last trip I took in it was a 3 ½ hour drive and it did fine.
I bought the Car in Texas about a year and a half ago and had big plans for it. Not much left to get this car back in show quality. The only reason I am selling it is that I been having some hard times financially and need the money to get myself out of a hole. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be selling the car because it’s a beautiful car and gets a lot of attention every time I take it out.
The dealership that I bought it from stated that it was purchased from a Movie Car Rental place out of California. So it’s very possible that this car may have been in a couple of movies back in the late 70’s or 80’s. The paint was a Candy Colored Burgundy Paint that seems to be sun altered. Now it looks as though its’ almost a hot pink color. I have a lot of people ask me for the color code because it’s a unique color that you don’t find on many cars. The only problem is that I can’t give them the color of the car because it was altered by the sun over time. When the sun shines on it you get a WOW! Effect. I get tons of compliments every time I take the car out for a drive. It seems to be a real head turner.
I can email you some additional photos upon request. There is also a company called “Original Parts Group” that sells every part for this car new, if you are thinking of restoring it back to new condition. I can give you the URL to their website or can email you a PDF Catalog for the Monte. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me with your questions and I will do my best to answer them.
