1978 Datsun 280Z
This is a 1978 Datsun 280z that has been through a custom restoration. The engine is an F54 block with a N42 head and has been rebuilt and cleaned up. There is an 8qt racing oil pan on it as well as a goldish faded valve cover. All the bolts are either new or replated and the starter and alternater are new with lifetime warrenty. The 5-Speed trans shifts smoothly through all gears and the clutch is also bran new with warrenty. The flywheel is used, but machined down 5 thousandths. Clutch slave is new with lifetime warrenty too. Engine runs great and recently installed was a JSK fuel rail not seen in pictures. <-- Looks a lot cleaner!
I replaced the front brakes with Brembo rotors and toyota calipers. The master cylinder has been upgraded to the ZX MS for more fluid flow to the larger calipers. The rear brakes are stock with new shoes and the car stops real quick with a good pedal feel.
The wheels are 16X7 Konig Troubles (5-Spoke) with a new set of Khumo sport tires.
The suspension has been lowered to a good looking ride height. KYB gas struts have been installed to improve the body roll. For that same reason I installed MSA's 1" front sway bar and 7/8" rear with poly bushings and new end links. Front suspention has been blasted and plated, but the rear has only been blasted and painted black. I also added a set of MSA's strut bars.
The exhaust sounds great! The closest comparison would be a 355F1 Ferrari at full throttle. Its a 6-1 header going to a 2 1/2" pipe, then to a stainless DTM muffler.
All body work has been done very well. The car has a sunroof in which the glass is removable. Makes the car a lot cooler in the summer, especially with the removed AC. The bumpers have been shaved, but I would consider a small carbon fiber bumper for the front from MSA. The body is so close to being perfect, I believe there is what looks like a small door ding on the drivers side door. Other than that, the car was finally painted with PPG Cosmos Black (BMW Color) and look really cool in the sunlight.
The interior is all new. There is not a single crack on the dash, the carpets are new, the seats are new and sportier, the infinity sound system is new, and it all comes together very well. I cut the floors out and strengthened them with 16gauge steel. There were a couple small rust holes in them before. Not anymore. Infact, I dont think there is a bit of rust on this car. The battery has been relocated to the rear just as an attempt to get some weight out of the engine room. That reason also applies to the AC being removed, weight and a couple more rpms.
All together this is a very nice car. If you compare it to most cars today, its the most fun you'll get for the money. My reason for selling is that I am moving soon for a new job and will no longer have a place for this car in my life. Suprisingly, the girlfriend wants me to keep it! Shes a keeper! I would really hate to see it go, this car has been my "get away from the world and drive" car for about five years and it has come a long way. As most classic car owners know, that when selling their baby, its nice to see it go into a good set of hands.
I know the pictures dont cover everything so call or email me for more information. I even have some pictures of the car fresh out of the spray booth that cover 360 degrees of the body. My phone number and email address are listed below.
