1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer
BODY- The Red portion of the car was repainted in September of 2003. . All body and paint done at local reputable body shop. Original front windshield and rubber, new window seals and whiskers, new door and body seals, exterior trim, panels and grille straight and detailed. Original straight front and rear bumpers, front in great condition, rear could be re-chromed, but not bad to the eye.
INTERIOR- Decent headliner, newer custom red fabric upholstery on seats. dash. Dash wiring all correct except for stereo tie in, new headlight and ignition switch, new Blaukput cd stereo,Pioneer speakers and wiring.
ENGINE- 1955 poly V8. Rebuilt stock radiator, new voltage regulator. Brakes done in 2002. Coker steel belted radial whitewalls in 2003.
DRIVE TRAIN and SUSPENSION- Original except for blocks under rear springs to lower it a tad.
Car was to be a daily driver, so under-chassis was not done. But, after spending $5800 on body and paint, I decided to keep it garaged and just drive it for fun. Hood is steel and straight. Work is 5 years old, so there is some normal wear and tear. Battery tray needs paint due to boil over on battery. Valve cover on right side leaks very little, but all else is OK. Car drives great and is very reliable. I took it on a 2000 mile trip 2 years ago and it never failed me. I just had the starter rebuilt and it's the only thing I've had to do in 2 years. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across country. Engine runs very strong. Transmission shifts firm and sweet with second gear bark when you get on it. I love this car, but I want to build a Rolls Royce kit car and can't have both.
