One of the most predictable hot rod trends is throwing a small block Chevy V8 into a Ford body, slapping some paint on the body panels and calling it a day. However, this one of a kind Ford Cabrio went through a much different transition and the outcome and the results are absolutely stunning. This beauty was built from the frame up and rides like a dream on its Mustang II suspension set up. Stopping power is courtesy a disc brake set-up which was donated from a 1982 Ford Thunderbird. Under the hood of this classy cabrio is a 302 High Output V8 which was coughed up out of a '88 Mustang and has been freshened up with a smart selection of go-fast parts. To cut out the complexity, the factory Ford EFI system was ditched in favor for an Edelbrock polished aluminum intake manifold and a matching 650CFM carburetor. The installed cam is a Ford roller grind and Ford Racing also supplied the headers that lead back to the Flowmaster mufflers. The ignition set-up is a Mallory ignition that lights the spark for this gorgeous cabriolet allowing it to start at first crank. The top on this 1940 Cabrio is a non-folding Teddy Z Carson top and the same material is used on the upper portions of the door panels. The interior seats up to 4 people comfortably and is wrapped in a very soft, caramel colored leather which brings this Cabrio to a whole new level of class. The freshly waxed, Brilliant Black exterior sparkles under the sun on this timeless Ford and is sure to attract all the attention when you're cruising down your favorite winding road.
