1949 Ford Custom Convertible For Sale in our Chicago Showroom. This 49 Ford is thought to be built by the famous George Barris, but records for the build back in the 1950's-60's aren't that good, and George couldn't verify that. He did sign the dash board though. The custom modifications done to this convertible are 1949-50 Chrysler bumpers, 1956 Pontiac grill, Chevy side chrome and front turn signals, 1959 Corvette steering wheel, Oldsmobile hub caps, fender skirts, non functioning Laker Pipes, dummy spot lights, "eyebrowed" headlights and tail lights with Blue Dots, decked out trunk area, House of Colors Candy Red with Chameleon Flames (repainted in 1999), and shaved door handles with electric poppers. Options on this car are power top, tilt column, AM/FM radio (not working), power windows, power steering and brakes with a Camaro front subframe, Coker Classic wide white walls on 14" wheels, and aftermarket seat belts were added. The suspension is Air Ride. The drive train is a Small Block Chevy 350 with an aluminum intake and Edelbrock carburetor. The is an aluminum dress up kit and a chrome alternator. The cooling is handled by a aluminum radiator with an electric fan. There is true dual exhaust on stock small block exhaust manifolds. This 1949 Ford Custom Convertible can be seen at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, and is located in our Chicagoland Showroom, which can be reached at 708 444 4488.
