Ford started using the Galaxie name for all its full sized models in 1962. The Galaxie XL was the first big performance Ford with bucket seats, console, and posh interior, but still keeping an air of sophistication. This 1962 Galaxie represents a lot of convertible for the money. This car is restored to a very high level of perfection.
The paint is exquisite on a laser straight body with the shine and depth of a mirror. All chrome, stainless, and aluminum trim are pristine with the bullet bumper guards on both front and rear bumpers. The interior glass is all new including the rear window of the convertible top. All weather-stripping is new. The aluminum wheels and the stainless fender skirts give a look of class.
The transmission is a Ford-O-Matic, and the engine is a big 390 C.I, rated 300 HP. The engine compartment is new and factory looking with the correct color valve covers and the correct factory emblems and spotless. The car has all the right options such as power steering, power brakes, A/C, power top and Galaxie Am/FM cassette that perfectly replaces outdated AM radio, factory door mirrors with the Ford emblems ion the are such a nice touch.
The interior is new everywhere you look. The vinyl trim, upholstery, trim paint, gauges, carpet, seat trim, console, it’s all like new. The trunk inside is new looking with the correct trunk mat, and what is believed to be the original spare with the sticker still on the tread. The original jack is restored new and in place correctly.
