1929 Ford Model A Pickup Truck Rat Rod
What could be cooler or more radical than a rat rod? If this is what youíre looking for, take a look at this 1929 Model A pickup truck. Itís got all the makings of a cool street rod, and some unexpected things, too!
This vehicle is titled as a 1985 constructed vehicle by the state of Florida.
The FL state assigned VIN is NM098142
First, you will definitely notice that there is no roof. Who needs a roof? Thatís just extra weight. Nonsense. This is a rat rod. Itís all about looking cool and going fast.
The 1929 Ford Model A body is all steel. It sits on a custom built frame. Power comes from a 350 Chevy that was pulled from a Silverado. The owner slapped on a three deuce intake, put a mild cam in it, and made his own headers with glasspack mufflers. It sounds killer. It moves. It doesnít get much cooler.
The front axle is from a í37 Ford, giving it the authentic feel. The rear end is from a 1991 Blazer Ė a GM 10-bolt rear end, with disc brakes. Thatís right. This rat rod has four wheel disc brakes. Itís got skinny wheels up front, and fat ones in the rear Ė and a matching set of rear wheels to go with the fronts, should you choose to swap them out.
On the inside, well, what you see is what you get. There are two seats, a switch panel in between them to start the truck, and a custom gauge pod that faces the driver to keep an eye on the vital signs. The shift knob looks like a big red Vegas casino die, and it controls the 5-speed manual thatís mated to the 350, out of the same pickup truck. It shifts well and is easy to drive.
The paint? Well, thatís not paint Ė thatís patina. Remember, itís a rat rod.
The frame and body are solid and in excellent shape, and you can easily get in this truck and take it to any local car show or cruise in and get all the looks and attention. What more could you ask for?
