The introduction of the Mustang in 1964 created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang’s styling with its long hood and short deck proved wildly popular and inspired a host of imitators. Since it was introduced five months before the normal start of the production year, the earliest Mustangs are widely referred to as the 1964½ model but were marked by Ford as a 1965. Standard interior features included adjustable driver and passenger bucket seats and an AM radio. This particular example was manufactured in Mexico where it was sold new. As such it has a speedometer and odometer in kilometers. It was originally optioned in Medium Sage Metallic with the 225hp 289ci A-Code V8, a Borg Warner T10 4 speed transmission, a center console, power steering, front disc brakes and 14” Rally Rims. It was restored in 1999 at which time it was painted Nightmist Blue with White Shelby stripes and the interior was redone in blue and white which matches nicely. It is believed to be a 3 owner car. We have a copy of the bill of sale from 1970 which was when the 2nd owner purchased it. He is said to have owned it until he passed away in 2015. In 2022 his wife sold it to a family member who lives in IL that imported it into the US. Due to a series of misunderstandings and bureaucratic red tape it took just short of 2 years to get an IL title which we were instrumental in helping the current owner do. During its thorough inspections by two IL Secretary of State Officers it was revealed that his is 1 of 8 1966 Mustangs produced in Mexico that has been imported and legally titled in the U.S. When the current owner got into the states he purchased a new battery as well as a sweet set of new 17” Cragar 500 Series Eliminator black and stainless rims that are wrapped in Firehawk 225/45ZR17 tires. The paint shows great from 10 feet but upon closer inspection you will find some issues. We have included close-ups of these issues on our site. Lastly, the car has not been driven much in the last 10 years and as such will need to be thoroughly inspected, tuned-up and serviced. Based on its current condition we would conservatively appraise this Pony as a #3 car and as such would appraise it at $36,140.00. We are serious about selling it quickly and have priced it accordingly so if you like what you see you best contact us right away!
