Stk. 1501 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429
One of only 859 "Boss 429s" built in 1969, this machine reflects the very best in muscle car history and heritage. Available only in limited numbers from 1969 through 1970,'The Boss 429' was built to satisfy the homologating rules of NASCAR in which 500 Mustangs had to be fitted with Boss 429 engines in order for Ford to compete in NASCAR's Grand National Division. What makes the "Boss" so special and rare is its engine. The 429 engine was unlike any motor Ford ever built-being much wider in the cylinder head, thanks to its semi-Hemispherical combustion chamber design. To solve this problem, Ford hired the Kar Kraft company out of Dearborn, MI to modify existing 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 Mustangs to properly accommodate the new Boss 429 motor. Kar Kraft had to make numerous and extensive modifications to the Mustang, including widening the shock towers and extending out the inner fenders to allow the new and massive engine to fit. Additional modifications included chopping the mounts for the front suspension and displacing them to create room for the block and exhaust manifolds. The battery was moved to the trunk and an extremely stiff sway bar was added to the rear end for added stability. In the end the modification proved viable and the Boss 429 was born. Our "Boss" is dressed-out magnificently in Royal Maroon-an original color option for the original '69 edition. And you'll find no unneeded glitz or glitter taking up space on our "Boss"-or any other. It's Business Only! Accentuated by F60x15 tires with raised white letters and a new exhaust system, the appearance of this vehicle is absolutely stunning. Under the hood you'll discover what this classic is all about. A 429 ci engine C-9 Intake) was legally rated at 375 hp due to legal issues and rising insurance costs-actual output was well over 500 hp. This Monster Mill is hooked-up to Close-Ratio 4-Spd Manual Transmission and a 3.91 Traction-Lok Differential. The original interior features Black Clarion Knit Vinyl Hi-Back Bucket Seats with Center Console, Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Tinted Windows, AM Radio, Tachometer and Temperature Gauge. To illustrate just how special these cars were, each was given a special NASCAR identification number ("KK Number") that stood for Kar Kraft.. Our model's KK number is 1395 and can be found on the driver's side door. Call 800-650-1055 or visit our website at www.autobarnclassiccars.com for more information. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS"
