1969 Torino Cobra 428 CJ $23,900 OBO—Dunlap, TN
The Torino “Cobra” series was introduced in 1969 in response to Mopar’s Super Bee and Roadrunner. The 428 CJ was inconspicuous, not having flashy markings like the stripes on a Super Bee, only cobra emblems and a 428 emblem on the hood scoop. However, it was lethal between red lights or racing your friends from once expressway exit to the next, making it one of the more popular street and strip cars.
This car is worthy of car shows and other hot rod events or just cruising and feeling the 428 CJ power under the hood while shifting through the gears with the close ratio 4 speed manual transmission. Differential ratio is 350.
Overall appearance of the Torino Cobra is very good. Paint is not perfect, but very good with high gloss. Interior is in nice condition with no signs of wear, rips or fading. Chrome, other bright work and glass are all good. Also the engine compartment is neat, clean, and looks completely original with the exception of a new looking aluminum radiator. The trunk compartment has the original style mat and is clean and straight.
Power steering and a good tight front end make it a good driver and brakes are front disc and rear drum. Tires are new (235/60/15) and on aluminum sport wheels, except for the 15” wheels. The car is consistent with the Marti report on this car, which we have.
