Manufactured by General Motors as part of the "Blue Chip" line of trucks. Only 300 Surburban Carrier Pickups were available in 1955. It is a rare animal. GMC's design for 1955 is a new concept in truck appearance, one which will appeal to the truck buyer desiring styling and comfort, as well as ruggedness and dependability, that only a real truck can offer. So revolutionary for its time, this pickup's body, fenders, and short steps are replaced with reinforced plastic body outer side panels extending from the back of the cab to the rear bumper. The transmission is a 350 turbo-hydromatic with B&M shift kit. Suspension consists of Mustang II front end with GM II disk and calipers, 94 Mustang power rack and pinon steering and 69 Camaro rear with posi- traction and 3.08 gear.
