|
1964 International Scout 80, Red Carpet Edition, 152 four cylinder, 3 speed manual trans, 4x4, 4:27 gears, all original, odometer reads 35K miles but may or may not be original miles, blue with a white full travel top, recent repaint, and almost no rust at all. Runs, drives and stops good. $2950.00
This classic early 4x4 Scout is only for sale due an unanticipated financial situation.
This is a Red Carpet Edition Scout 80. The Line Set Ticket, included with the Scout, shows that it was built as a Doll Up Scout. Doll Up Scout is how IH designated the Red Carpet Scouts. International Harvester made these special edition Red Carpet Doll Up Scouts to celebrate the production of the 100,000th Scout in 1964. It was originally painted white, and came with chrome bumpers, a rear spare tire carrier, and red carpet front and rear.

Exterior Condition;
It has had an economical repaint applied by a previous owner and the paint has some flaws, painted over dents, wrinkles and scratches, as well as some oversprayed areas and runs.
The interior has not been repainted, and the door jambs have some overspray from the repaint.
There is evidence of dent repair and body filler on the driver side rear quarter panel and endcap, and the passenger side rear quarter panel.
Both doors open, close, and latch, but they need some adjustment or other work for a proper fit.
The top is in great shape. The seam sealer around the drip edge has dried and flaked off, so it needs to be replaced.
Liftgate works great.
The tailgate lip on the passenger side has some wrinkles, but the tailgate opens, closes and latches as it should.
The windshield is cracked on the passenger side.
All other glass is good with no cracks.
Driver and passenger windows roll up and down.
Windshield wipers work.
Tires are in good shape with decent tread. Spare tire and rim included, with the spare tire weather checked and cracked.
Interior Condition;
Front and rear floors are in great condition, with some surface rust under the carpet, but no rust holes that I can see.
The interior is complete except for the headliner.
Driver and passenger seats are usable as is with slip covers, OEM Red Carpet upholstery is cracked and torn.
Dash pad has several small cracks.
Drivers upholstered door panel is cracked and torn, while the passenger upholstered door panel is in good condition.
Original front red carpet is all there, but is worn.
Original rear red carpet is all there, but needs a good cleaning.
It has a hard to find OEM rear seat in Red Carpet trim, with some tears and cracks in the upholstery.
The unique IH fire extinguisher looks great, needs recharging.
Neat old AM tube type Chevy car radio, possibly 1950s vintage, is mounted above the rearview mirror. It doesnt have a speaker hooked up to it, but turn the switch and it comes on and the tubes light up.
Electrical Condition;
The stock gauges all work. There are two aftermarket gauges mounted in the radio block off plate, but they arent hooked up.
Headlights, tailights, turn signals and brake lights all work.
Heater fan works on both speeds.
Recently replaced battery.
152 4 cylinder engine;
The engine runs strong.
It has a recently rebuilt carburetor and new air cleaner, as well as a new starter.
Newer electric fuel pump, and the wipers now run off of engine vacuum.
The original fuel pump is still in place, but not hooked up.
110V powered water heater circulator, and a 110V radiator hose heater are both installed on the engine making this an excellent cold weather truck.
No major engine noises, problems or leaks evident.
T14 3 speed transmission and Dana 18 transfer case;
The transmission is a 3 speed and shifts good. It doesnt display any problems. Clutch doesnt appear to slip, chatter or make noise.
Transfer case seems to work well.
No major noises or leaks evident.
Dana 27 front and Dana 44 rear axles;
Brakes work well with no major grabbing or pulling problems evident.
Leaf spring bushings appear to be worn.
Front axle has a minor oil leak at the pinion and minor oil seepage at the outer closed knuckles.
The axles dont display any problems or make any noises.
