1965 Jaguar Mark II 4.5 |
|
At first glance, this timeless British classic, resembles a factory-fresh Mk2 saloon straight out of the showroom. In particular the British Racing Green bodywork has been finished to world class standard and ought to meet the approval of even the most discriminating aficionado of the leaping cat marque. Closer inspection reveals the Jaguar to be even more extraordinary, as it is in fact a Re-engineered Example reminiscent of the famous Beacham Jaguar (but at a much more modest cost) with a stack of integrated custom-mods merged into the 1960’s styling. Specification briefly incorporates:- Triple Webers with open trumpets feeding a thunderous 4.5 litre (Mk10) uprated power unit with Mike Hodge crankshaft, mated to a BMW Competition dog-leg manual 5-sp gearbox, Stiffened suspension, Cosworth front callipers, Modified rear axle, ‘Le Mans’ style fuel filler, XKR type sportscar louvers in the bonnet, Flared rear wheel arches (fabricated in copper/lead) Replica D-type wheels, Stainless Steel Exhaust, plus a stunning XJS VanDen Plas interior in piped cream leather with wood embellishments.
HISTORY
The car was originally manufactured in Coventry in 1965, exported to California and re-imported back to UK 25 years later in 1990 and changed to RHD. Thanks to the corrosion-free environment, the bodyshell, floorpan and chassis required no welding or metal fabrication! The car underwent a full nut-and-bolt rebuild by respected classic car specialists Rawdon Restorations of W Yorks which reputedly cost between £50,000 to £60,000. Most of the engine mods were carried out by Marque Specialists Swallow Engineering of Basildon. Although the supporting documentation in the history file has now been misplaced, the quality of the craftsmanship can clearly be seen, the engine bay and underside are equally as impressive, as is the bespoke trimmed/carpeted boot, together with rare, original lined container with complete set of Jag hand tools, and service manual. Only 5,000 miles have been covered by its Jag Enthusiast Club driver/keeper during the intervening years and the car has been in dry storage for the past 5 years. Now re-commissioned with MOT and Free road tax to ………….. this unique prize-winning specimen will enhance any major collection. Serious Fun-Factor also assured! |
