1960 Jaguar Mark II

1960 Jaguar Mark II for sale

--SOLD--Miles: 50,002. This Mark II was delivered on June 28, 1960 to The Grand Garage Turenne, 275 Rue Turenne, Bordeaux France and subsequently brought to the USA in 1961.
The Jaguar was driven by a doctor in New Hampshire and used in his house calls until 1981 when it was parked and taken out of service at 46,643 miles. The car sat until 1992 when it was brought to Reading, PA for a complete, body off, frame up total restoration. The restoration was completed in December 1992, over 1700 man-hours went into the restoration. The car was featured in Auto Week, October 26, 1998.
On May 20, 1995, the Mark II won best of class at the Concours d'Elegance of the Eastern United States.
The restoration was performed to retain the integrity of the automobile and to upgrade in all aspects for the accommodation of modern day touring. The following is a list of the upgrades.
Heat and AC: A new H/AC unit was installed, Model SR833, Quality Components Inc. The AC pump, hoses, and condenser are GM SD 506. A turbo fan was mounted in front of the AC compressor behind the grille. The bonnet was louvered to assist in the cooling.
Cooling System: A 1966 Jaguar 3.8S radiator was installed along with a Jaguar 4.2 model water pump which provides more efficient and reliable cooling.
Brake System: The new brake power unit is a 1988 Oldsmobile unit mounted to a 1971 Jaguar XJ6 pedal and aluminum housing. Very safe and efficient.
Steering System: A new Jaguar 1990 XJS short tower power steering rack was installed along with a Jaguar 4.2 power steering pump and brackets.
Transmission: A new 1978 Model 65 Borg Warner automatic aluminum transmission with a custom rebuilt Bel-Landis torque converter was installed. A Jaguar 1967 420 4-speed drive shaft as installed to fit the new transmission. A new model 70265 B&M transmission cooler was used with the newer transmission.
Electrical System: A new 1978 Jaguar XJ6 starter was installed and is negative ground. A new 1978 KJ6 Motorola alternator was installed.

Oil Filter: A new FRAM PH 16 screw-on type oil filter was installed and replaced the old canister type.
Shock Absorbers: Four new KONI shock absorbers were installed which allows for much better handling.
Fender Skirts: The fender skirts are aluminum racing skirts which allowed for lager wider tires.
Driver's Seat Support: A manually operated lumbar seat support was installed.
Steering Wheel: The steering wheel is a 15-inch NARDI wheel with a Jaguar emblem affixed to it.
Paint: The paint was sprayed in a three stage show lacquer application after a multi-phased hand sanding was done.
Engine: The engine was completely dismantled and rebuilt.
