You are looking at a very nice 1978 jaguar xjs coupe in way cool black. This coupe originally came with the Jaguar V12engine but has since been retrofitted with a Chevy v8 that has only a little more than 23,000 miles on it. The retrofit with the chevy v8 cost over $4,500 to do itself, and the car has the newer 20" jaguar XK8 alloy wheels on it that cost over $4,000 as an option. With the retrofit engine and the newer wheels you are looking at over $8,500 of money invested in this vehicle. The engine has a high performance Edelbrock Header with high performance Accel coil and chromed valve covers as well. (see pictures). this car has new fuel lines, Battery, belts and hoses. Since the car was originally shipped to San Francisco in 1978, it has only a vent fan but no AC. You can retrofit AC to these classic cars for about $800 and with this having a chevy V8 it is much easier and more cost efficient than retrofitting to an original jag AC unit. You can purchase a full retrofit AC unit from Vintage Air at this link: http://www.oldairproducts.com The red leather interior is in immaculate condition with only the dash and the console having any cracks in their surface but still intact.
The paint on the car looks nice when polished but does have some dings and cracks in it that while immediately are not evident upon close inspection you see them. the car does have a dent in the lower portion of the drivers side door (see pic) that needs to be fixed, any good body man can fix easily paint is ok there. There is also a chip, ding in the passenger side rear fenderwell that could be filled and re-painted as well. Overall I'd say the body is pretty good considering the cars age. the doors close very tightly and not loose or clangy and with a good thud! The drivers side electric window needs a new switch and wiring and all gauges work except the Tac and speedometer, which I think is a wiring issue probably easily remedied. The wheels are brand new off the current XK78 and as said earlier are a $4,000 upgrade. the car needs new tires and probably a good wheel balance once you do that as you currently get so vibration at the front at 70-75 miles per hour and its a vibration from the tire wear pattern, other than that the car runs good. If one were to invest in the retrofit AC and some new tires and down the line some minor body work and maybe new paint you'd easily be able to get $15,00 for this car. you'll see plenty of this model from the 80's but not so many pre-1980 hardtop xjs coupes, and this one is sharp with the red leather and black, just look at the pics taken on the 4thof july. You will see on this cars title that the original sale price on this car in 1978 was over $23,000 and that was in 1978! In the today's equivalent of a jag coupe you'd pay over $90,000 for this car. The title is free and clear.
This car is getting rarer and rarer to find running versions of the xjs especially pre-1980. Note: I will consider a partial trade with cash balance for a classic pickup (i.e Chevy's, dodges, studebakers, fords most anything running and in decent condition and pre-1982) I will also consider partial trade for any classic cars(i.e firebirds, camaro's, mustangs, trans ams etc) or motorcycles as well especially (ducati's, triumphs, nortons, harleys etc)
