1951  Lincoln  Sport Sedan (Baby)

Up for sale is a 1951 Lincoln Sport Sedan (Baby Lincoln). It is a suicide door, four door sedan. As you can see from the photos, there have been no major body modifications. The car has a continental kit, factory type sun visor, dummy spot lights, factory fender skirts. The headlamps have been replaced with clear tri-bar, Jaguar housings with blue halogen bulbs. The car has underbody blue neon lights front and rear and both sides. The triple outlet lake pipes are not hooked up, just for looks only. The wheel covers are from a 1957 Cadillac. All weatherstripping has been replaced. All stainless and chrome is in fair to good condition. The body has some rust coming through the rocker panels (new uninstalled rocker panels come with the vehicle), some bubbling on lower front quarter panels, and at the belt line above the rear wheels. Floor and frame in excellent condition. Interior was redone in dark blue fabric some years ago, and is in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The headliner is in excellent condition. The windshield is new and the rest of the glass is in excellent condition except some laminate separation around the edges of the vent windows. The original gauges have been disconnected in favor of aftermarket underdash mounted gauges. The speedometer has not worked since I purchased the car in 1999. All locks and windows work as new. The car has a Southern Air heat/defrost/air conditioner installed and it works great.
The drive train is as follows: The engine is a 1971 Lincoln 460 CI. 365 HP. It was completely rebuilt in 2003 and has less than 2000 miles on it. The bore remains stock but has a Lunati low to med RPM cam, Edelbrock Performer 460 intake with an Edelbrock 750 CFM carb. The engine has a remote oil filter and a shrouded electric cooling fan behind a Griffen aluminum radiator. The charging system has been upgraded to 12 volt and has a one wire type alternator. The engine runs very strong and runs cool at parade or road speeds.
The transmission is a C-6 out of the same 1971 Lincoln as the motor. It was completely rebuilt prior to installing it in the 51. The rear end is the original and has the original 3.31-1 gear ratio.
The chassis remains stock, with the drum brakes remaining. The complete braking system has been replaced including all brake lines. The car stops straight and smoothly, so why mess with success? The tires are Diamondback wide whitewall radials and are in excellent condition.
All in all, the car is in excellent shape for a daily driver. To become a show car the minor rust issues and a repaint would be necessary. (The car has won numerous trophies and plaques as it is). I really hate to part with my “Baby”, but health forces sale. Please look at the pictures closely, and e-mail me with any questions or additional pictures. If you purchase the car, I’m sure you will get as many hours of pleasure and thumbs up as I have. Serious inquiries only please.
