1970 Mercedes 280 sl

The 280SL is the final evolution of the last hand-built Mercedes Roadster. All of the Mercedes SLs following the Pagoda have been produced in large quantities by industrial robots and will never attain the collectibility of the earlier, hand-crafted cars.
Consequently, the 280SL remains one of the most desirable post-war Mercedes automobiles; nicely preserved examples--such as the one for auction here--steadily continue their rise in value, with no end in sight.

On occasions where you would want the added safety and security of a Coupé, there is the original steel hardtop. Mounted within minutes, the hardtop effectively keeps out even the most inclement weather and permits year-round use of the SL even in very cold climates.

This awesome motorcar comes with all options including Frigiking factory air conditioning that has been overhauled, original wood paneling, original Becker stereo, new tires, new alternator, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and of course both hard top and soft top. The car has been driven only in nice weather (I can't remember the last time the soft top was up) and has always been garaged. This collector quality 280SL is one of the nicer examples you will find on eBay! For the most particular buyer who understands and appreciates the potential of this great motorcar, you will not be disappointed in this truly rare, rare find!

Now the bad news. There is a small tear in one seat, the soft top has a small tear in it, the hard top needs to be repainted, and there are a few minor nicks in the paint. Very minor and inexpensive problems – easy fixes. Mileage is about 81,000.
