Selling my "Pearl"

Vintage 1972 Mercedes 280SE

This car is in great condition considering her age. I've replaced the power steering pump, fuel pump, most hoses and electrical wiring, heater, fan, radiator, brakes, belts, plugs/general tune-up etc. The 300 inline-6 gasoline motor on the 108 chassis makes this a more rare Benz as most 280s left on the road nowdays are diesel.

When I purchased this project it had 109,000 original miles with one owner from Parker Colorado and all maintenance records. I've driven her to Leadville and back and the strong straight 6 put my Ford truck to shame in the mountains.

The engine and transmission have both been rebuilt recently with no mileage. Still needs a valve modulator switch. I've been quoted $200-300 by local Benz specialists for parts and labor. It starts but won't drive without that.

The interior is in near mint condition. Some jackass chipped the original wood dash to steal the radio however was kind enough to leave the wood chips so that could be restored. I put a CD player in after that. Still has the original hood ornament.

The exterior needs a new paint job, however I would call the current condition good. At some point a cheap job was done indicated by the upside down emblem on the trunk. Some front underside wheel well rust and bondo evidence. Mercedes steel rims and original hubs. I have the original maintenance records and owner's manuals.

This is a great project/restoration car with not much left to do. Completely restored these are going from $10-35K on the web.

The curves are sexy and she purrs like a German kitten. Strong suspension makes 80mph feel smooth and comfy.

If you can't tell, I love this car but, alas, don't have time and need the money.
