1969  Mercedes  300 SEL

You are looking at a Mercedes Benz that Road & Track magazine said was “Merely the greatest sedan in the world”. If you wanted a car back in ’69 that was roomy enough for the entire family and would do WELL OVER 100mph you would look no further then the 1969 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL with the HUGE 6.3 liter, 383 Cu In, 300 hp V8 with a mind blowing 437 POUNDS OF TORQUE!

This was the king of the 4 doors in ’69 and is still fast by today’s standards. When tested in 1969 the numbers spoke for themselves. 14.25 in the ¼ mile, 5.7 seconds 0–60 and a 144 mph top speed were all unbelievable numbers back in ‘69. With only 1,839 of these sedans ever sold from 1968 – 1973 these are becoming increasingly rare and hard to find. In 1969 there were only 601 of these cars sold.

The paint on this car is in very good condition. It has a great shine and luster with no major imperfections to be found. The front chrome bumper does have some minor dings and nicks to it but is in overall great condition with no pitting. The rear has no pitting and is in great condition.

The leather seats are in good condition and appear to be original. The driver’s seat does have some small nicks and tears as you can see in the photos. The passenger seat is better with only small nicks but no major tears. The rear seat is in very good condition with only minor wear. The carpets are all good with no major staining or tears. The temperature and oil pressure gauges appear inoperable but all other gauges are in good working order. The Zebra wood venire dash is solid but there is some cracking on the padded dash and some peeling to the wood trim on the drivers side door. All other wood trim is in good condition.

The fuel injected V8 in this car is simply amazing for the time. The motor is clean but not highly detailed. The car accelerates extremely fast at speed and has tons of power. The previous owner put almost $3000 in the motor in ’92 changing out the plugs, condensers, level valve, fuel filter, O-rings, plug wires, brake lines and belts. We have receipts for all work done. We also have the original owners manuals and parts diagram. The previous owner acquired the car in 1996 and has been a Texas car for at least the last 11 years.

This is a true collectors piece that is sure to make the new owner happy. The car drives great and has plenty of power sure to put a smile on your face. The current mileage shows 38,279 and the VIN number is 10901812000770. Car is being sold on a mileage exempt Texas title.
