1949 Mercury 4 Door -Suicide |
|
1949 mercury 4 door rat rod. body off restored chassis with 8" of drop in rear. superslide springs. 6" of drop in front with new spindles. new brakes and brake components. new bushings, new tie rod ends on custom tie rods designed to eliminate bump steer. new kingpins. power steering with NEW (not rebuilt) ford pickup steering box. body is ABSOLUTELY rust free but it does have a few dents and dings. midline trim has been removed and holes welded up. same for hood. stainless under windows is in good shape and straight. front bumper and grill are in very good shape, but could stand to be rechromed. rear bumper is not so great. original tail light bezels are not so great. dash is complete with all the chrome and late model gauges have been retro-fitted to original bezels. tilt column from 70s chevy van has been installed with original steering wheel. front seat is from mid-60s ford wagon and has chrome trim down each side and the back of the seat is upholstered. seat fits this car well and is made for a 4 door. needs reupholstering. back seat is flip down seat from late jeep wagoneer and stock merc armrests fit this seat. headliner bows are intact but this car needs interior. engine is interceptor 302 small block ford with a brand new AOD overdrive automatic. trans has less than 2000 miles on it. engine has 46,000 miles on it and has had oil changed every 3000 miles. (give or take) runs VERY well. gets great mileage. very reliable. new edelbrock intake and carb. 8 wire HEI ignition. lokar shifting cable. ron francis wiring harness. now, here's whats wrong with it...radiator recently sprung a leak, brakes need to be bled, car needs alignment, and a few windows are cracked, but they are flat and cheap. 3 piece back window is perfect. winshield rubber is new with new glass, but a giant rock chipped the passenger side winshield 2 weeks after getting installed. this is a work in progress but the hard part is done. keep in mind that these cars share the same frame as 2 doors so swapping bodies would be simple, as most people don't seem to want a suicide 4 door. however, this car is driven all the time, and i personally put all 46,000 miles on it. it is a blast to drive, and rides like a dream. current TX antique registration. $6500 cash and you can drive it home. there are a lot of details not listed here, just ask and i'll be happy to answer any questions. i have just over $10,000 in this car. thanks for checking it out.
