1967 Mercury Cougar XR7-GT 390

A rare 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7-GT with Marauder 390 GT engine, which according to CCOA registry database, there are only 146 left in North America. I checked all the Cougar Clubs east of Mississippi and found only one other in IL. engine has been totally rebuilt and includes the Ford chrome valve covers (and they are perfect). I have spent last two years in refurbishing body, engine, front end, rear end, interior, and restoring parts. This car is 85% done. Only things left to do is new paint, vinyl top ($495), seats repadding, and putting engine back in. In other words, I’ve already done all the bulk of the time and money and work on bringing to show car. Body: No rust at all. Body has been blocked, door jambs painted, and ready to go for vinyl roof PRIOR to putting windows back in. Only one modification: I added a Boss 427 4.5” hood scoop Transmission: C6 is in excellent condition and well maintained. . Engine: 6.5 liter Marauder 390 GT, new power booster fan, new triple core radiator, new radiator housing shield, new front and rear suspension, Autolite radiator cap, new radiator rubber support shield, new L shaped heat shield and fan shroud. New TRW pistons, new Moly rings, new guides, new springs, block had been decked with new ARP bolts, crank freshly ground 10:10, new GT cam, engine assembly has been balanced. Only thing left to do is add Holley carb, distributior, and air cleaner housing. Wheels: very rare totally reconditioned 1967 Cougar 5.5” steel rims. Interior replacement parts are all there. Seats need to be repadded and recovered to make it showplace car, but there are no tears in the seats. I have all of the completely restored parts of the interior from dash pad to wood grain dash to mirrors to center console to shifter to arm rests….it’s all there ready to reassemble.
