This is a very nice example of a very rare, highly sought after 1951 Mercury Sport Coupe. Owned by an elderly collector, this car was acquired by him through a relative in 2002 and has been kept in heated indoor storage since. It is being offered for sale now only because of his advanced age. This is one of the few cars that actually looks better in person than in the photos!

The odometer shows 59,706 miles and is believed to be correct, but the car is being sold as exempt because of the age. We do have a clear title showing actual mileage of 59,552 in 2002. Our knowledge of what has been done to this car is very limited, but this is what we do know. It is a combination of unmolested original, with some cosmetic and mechanical improvements over the years. The front and rear have been nosed and decked and it has shaved door handles with push button release entry for the doors and trunk. The engine has been upgraded with adjustable lifters and ground valves. The car was repainted a beautiful pearl white in 2000, the bumpers were re-chromed, the rest of the trim appears to be original and in great shape. The interior has been restored with custom seat covers, door panels and headliner. The undercarriage is mostly original and is extremely solid and clean. The lake pipes and spots are dummies and not operable. The tires are modern Firestone radials P-235/75-15 front and rear. The gauges, horn, lights, signals, windows and overdrive are fully operational and the car rides, handles and looks terrific. The glove box was signed by George Barris a few years ago at the Midwest Regional Street Rod Show in Crown Point Indiana.
