This 1928 Shay's Model A Roadster is for sale in our Louisville KY Showroom. The Model A was Ford's answer to the affordable car for the working man. Available in a variety of colors as well as body styles the Model A was a great success selling over a million units in just less than 18 months. Harry Shay, the founder of Model A Motor Car Reproduction Corporation would shoot for similar numbers, well kind of. Shay was a very clever business man and as with many smart business men he was wanting as much as he could get for free. Having that said he came up with the proposal to let him ship one of his Shay Model A's to each dealer in the network. His ideal paid off and with all of the free publicity it drummed up sales took off. Some companies even said there were enough orders to keep them bust for 20 years. Unfortunately this was not the case and two years later the company folded but not before putting out approximately 5000 roadsters. This is a wonderful example of just how nice they can be. The body itself has been reworked to have the panels fit better as well as a lot smoother finish. For being an all glass car the black paint has laid down nicely and shines extremely well. The exterior modifications don�t stop there either. The current owner has come up with a way to enjoy this car all year long, real windows. That�s right he has fabricated side windows that can be easily put on that block the wind a lot better than the original plastic set ups. With the heater and blower fan working as if they were new this little black beauty can be enjoyed in temperatures that are less than favorable. Finishing off the exterior are a set of Coker rims wrapped in wide white wall tires that, in my opinion, absolutely make the car. The interior has had some custom touches as well including a seat that has been moved back almost 6 inches giving a lot more legroom. The back of the seat has been raised up as well making this roadster an absolute pleasure to drive. If you are looking for a car that can be driven and easy to maintain with no worries of rust popping up on you this may be the car for you. All the looks of a great restored Model A without any of the headaches.
