Up for sale in the Houston showroom is one awesome step back in time, the 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA. The third generation Pontiac Firebird for sale was introduced in late 1981 by Pontiac alongside its twin, the Chevrolet Camaro . These were also the first Firebirds with factory fuel injection and the available four-speed automatic transmissions along side of the 5 speed manual. The Trans Am GTA for sale was Pontiac's pride and joy with a 5.7L 350 Tuned Port Injection (TPI). Many people like to say, incorrectly, that the engine itself was pulled directly out of the C4 Corvette, which itself began using the engine in 1985, but the heads on the Corvette were aluminum whereas the Firebird heads were cast Iron, although it did give the GTA performance numbers comparable to GM's flagship performance platform from whence it came.
