1930 Studebaker 53 Regal Sedan
This car was purchased from the original owner in 1976 with 16,567 original miles. The current mileage is 17,061. The previous owner worked as a supervisor at the Studebaker, Walkerville plant in Ontario, Canada assembling cars brought in from South-bend, Indiana. The owner ordered the car in the fall of 1929 when the 1930 models were going into production and took delivery in November of 1929. Car is registered as a 1929 but was the new 1930 model. Cars assembled at the Walkerville plant qualified to be shipped to the United Kingdom by just reversing the steering column and pedal location. The car rode on an 114 inch wheelbase while the large 6 cylinder engine produced 70 horsepower. The car produced at the South-bend plant in the United States were advertised to sell at $995.00.
The original owner garaged the car since new placed the car on blocks after replacing it with a new Ford where now worked. The car remained in the garage on blocks until purchased in 1976. After refreshing the paint in 1976, the car was featured in numerous shows. The car drives well and handles 50 to 55 mile per hour. Other than specific events, the car returned to the garage and put back on jack stands where is sits today. There was no rust or body damage other than a few minor scratches expected from a 93 year old car that has never been restored. Vintage Plate Number is 2885.
Mechanically the car is sound. The timing chain was replaced at 16,642 miles, carburettor, fuel pump and fuel tank recently cleaned. The car has spent over 65 years garaged on jack stands so it is time it was put to use as a driver as it is too good of shape to restore. It is rare to find a 93 year old car that has been garaged since new with such low mileage. was no rust or body damage other than a few minor scratches expected from a 93 year old car that has never been restored.
