We are excited to offer this extremely nice, un-restored all original Austin Healey 3000 MK3.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This truly beautiful big Healey is one of those special cars!
The Austin-Healey 3000 is a British sports car built from 1959 to 1967. It is the best known of the "big Healey" models. The car's bodywork was made by Jensen Motors and the vehicles were assembled at BMC's MG Works in Abingdon, alongside the corporation's MG models.
During its production life, the car transitioned from an open sports car, albeit with a child-transporting 2+2 option, to a sports convertible.
The 3000 sports convertible Mark III was announced in February 1964 with power increased from 136 bhp to 150 bhp by a new higher lift camshaft. SU HD8 carburetors replaced HS6 units. Power-assisted braking became standard instead of optional. The new car's fascia displayed its speedometer and tachometer directly in front of the driver. Upholstery was now in vinyl.
The Mark III BJ8 remained in production until the end of 1967 when manufacture of the Austin-Healey 3000 ceased.
Our car on offer is a 3000 MK3 BJ8, the 2+2 seater model.
The car has been with one California family up until last year! This is a remarkable survivor, impossible to find in this condition with 100% original paint and long term ownership.
Finished in beautiful light ivory over red interior, the car still looks simply gorgeous. Yes, it has its share of nicks and scratches and a couple of small minor dents, which could easily be taken out by good dent remover, but we opted to keep the car body completely untouched. When did you see an all original paint, rust-free Healey the last time? It still is very, very presentable with chrome and stainless in very good condition. The engine and engine bay is clean and the car runs and drives fantastic with working overdrive. The mileage of 67075 miles is believed to be the original mileage.
The current owner had the seats and carpets redone recently as the originals were no longer serviceable, but the dash, shift console and top are still original. The original spoke rims were correctly re-finished and painted.
This is a very nice and truly authentic example of the sought after and collectable BJ8 model. Car comes with its original Soft top (not mounted) a tonneau cover, original spare, tool roll and cover.
This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a true California survivor Austin Healey in fantastic condition and stunning color combination.
